What Health Services Can Be Provided With a Health Care App?

These days, it can be challenging to get the healthcare you need, when you need it. Even getting an appointment with your primary care physician can be a hassle, with the average wait time for an appointment hitting nearly a month in big cities. Fortunately, now there’s a solution to these long wait times and substandard health services. With Text2Med, an innovative health care app, you can get personal and professional medical attention any time you need.

What Health Services Can Be Provided With a Health Care App?

More than 80 medical conditions can be treated by accessing board-certified physicians with more than a decade of experience through our health care app. For one low price, you can be texting with or speaking to the physician of your choice through the app for any of the following reasons:

  • Urgent care
  • Primary care
  • Lifestyle medicine
  • Laboratory orders
  • Imaging orders
  • Prescription medications

While not every medical condition is appropriate to be treated through telemedicine, there are dozens that are. Most initial assessments of medical issues don’t need to be done in person. A virtual visit with an experienced physician is enough to make a recommendation for treatment. Often, that treatment can be completed through telemedicine follow-up visits as well. Occasionally, our physicians will make the recommendation to visit a medical provider in person for conditions that require a physical examination.

Urgent Care

Urgent conditions are those that require medical attention to treat but are not considered emergencies. Examples of urgent conditions that can be treated through a telemedicine app include bronchitis, influenza, vomiting, diarrhea, rashes, skin infections, insect bites, upper respiratory infections, sprains, urinary tract infections, sports injuries, and sinusitis, among others. Typically, conditions are considered urgent if you need treatment but are unable to make a same-day appointment with your doctor.

Primary Care

Most medical conditions are treated and managed by primary care physicians, who are typically internal medicine or family doctors who don’t specialize in any one body system. However, as previously mentioned, it can be difficult to get an appointment with your primary care physician, especially during cold and flu season, even if your concern has nothing to do with the cold or the flu. Telemedicine can help you get your condition examined and treated without ever leaving your home.

Imagine this: no waiting times, no unnecessary exposure to illnesses, and no surprise costs. This can all be a reality with telemedicine for non-urgent, primary care conditions like acne, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, asthma, acid reflux, gout, headaches, weight loss, hypothyroidism, hair loss, erectile dysfunction, and more. Not only will you be able to get an appointment right away, but you can also choose the doctor you see, so you’ll get consistent care with the same physician or nurse as well.

Lifestyle Medicine

Not only can you get medical conditions examined and treated through telemedicine, but you can also obtain other services that your primary care physician may not provide. For example, some family doctors may not provide anti-aging or wellness services, but these are both available through our app. You can also consult with a physician on birth control, growth hormone insufficiency, and homeopathic preventive medicine. You’re not limited to one method of treatment as you may be with a traditional approach.

Laboratory and Imaging Orders

When our physicians determine that more tests are necessary to diagnose or treat a condition, we can provide orders for various laboratory and imaging services to inform our decisions. We can send orders to local facilities for x-rays, ultrasounds, complete blood count tests, basic metabolic panels, STD tests, MRIs, CT scans, urinalyses, testosterone level tests, and much more. We’ll get the results from the facility and be able to develop a treatment plan based on the outcome.

Prescription Medications

If we determine that prescription medication is an appropriate treatment for your medical condition, we can send an order for a prescription to your local preferred pharmacy. While we are unable to prescribe or provide refills for controlled substances, we can send prescriptions for most common conditions such as diabetes, blood pressure, reflux, cholesterol, asthma, and others. You won’t even have to wait for your prescription to be filled because we send it directly to your pharmacy for pickup.

COVID-19

As you’re aware, COVID-19 presents a new urgent medical condition that should be diagnosed as quickly as possible so that you can quarantine yourself and prevent the spread of this potentially deadly disease. Given the contagiousness of COVID-19, it’s better for you to be seen virtually by a physician than to visit your doctor in person. We are able to assess your condition and determine if you need a COVID-19 test to make an official diagnosis.

Moreover, if you’ve tested positive for COVID-19 and experience a worsening of your symptoms, we can consult with you via video conferencing to determine if you should go to the hospital for more intensive treatment. We’re also able to provide a laboratory order for you to be tested for COVID-19 antibodies should you need that service to show you’ve already been infected with COVID-19 for immunity purposes. We can send the order for COVID-19 antibodies testing to a local laboratory.

I-MASK+ protocol

Another COVID-19 service we offer through our app that you may not find with traditional physicians is the I-MASK+ protocol that has demonstrated some effectiveness in preventing and treating COVID-19. We offer a consultation to determine if you’re a candidate for the treatment; a prescription for Ivermectin, an FDA-approved anti-parasite drug; and follow-up visits with the prescribing physician. To obtain an evaluation, you can request a $55 appointment through the app. The fee covers all aspects of the protocol.

Long-Haul COVID-19

The further we get into the pandemic, the more we understand that some patients develop chronic symptoms of COVID-19 that do not go away for weeks or even months after the virus has left the body. We have been at the forefront of COVID-19 research since the beginning, and have developed post-COVID-19 treatments that can help you make a more complete recovery more quickly. Our protocols are based on researchers’ recommendations and proven therapeutic drugs, supplements, and diet modifications. For $135, you can receive a month-long treatment plan that includes the initial consultation, laboratory work to establish your bio-inflammatory markers baseline, a prescription for various medications (including Ivermectin, Fluvoxamine, and steroids), and unlimited follow-up appointments through the app or by secured text. You can also receive a follow-up consultation for $90 that will repeat the lab work, provide additional medication if necessary, and additional follow-up texts. For $35, you can get this follow-up consultation without the labs.

Secure and Private

While you may be concerned that your health information is less secure when using telemedicine than if you were to see your physician in person, you can rest easy. We have a partnership with Text2MD to provide our secure and private texting and telemedicine platform that operates on a HIPAA-compliant network. We take the protection of your medical information seriously, and as such, we have partnered with a company that is known for its security features.

Telemedicine appointments are actually more private than in-person visits because you can see a physician whenever and wherever you need them. This means you’re able to confidentially make and attend an appointment with the doctor of your choice without anyone else knowing. With the secured Text2MD platform protecting your medical information and your own home protecting your privacy, you get the best of both worlds when you access medical care through our innovative health care app.

Benefits of Telemedicine

Over the past year of social distancing and quarantines, patients and physicians have been discovering the many benefits of telemedicine. We’ve learned that many in-person visits are unnecessary and can lead to extra costs that can easily be avoided by taking advantage of virtual healthcare. If you’re still on the fence about using telemedicine, consider these proven benefits.

Less Wait Time

As previously mentioned, you’ll find the wait times for telemedicine to be much lower than in-person wait times. Since you have access to more physicians at any given time, you can get an immediate appointment on the app. Both your time and the physician’s time are better utilized through the telemedicine process. Not only that, but you also won’t find yourself sitting in a waiting room for your doctor to show up since one will be available right away.

More Convenient

Since you don’t have to drive to a doctor’s office, you don’t need to worry about taking as much time off work or figuring out a time to fit an appointment in your schedule. This aspect of telemedicine has also shown to improve people’s health because they don’t put off getting an appointment for logistical reasons. In fact, they’re more likely to utilize virtual services at the slightest hint of a medical problem, improving the odds of successful treatment.

Improved Access

For elderly people and other patients whose mobility is compromised due to injury or illness, telemedicine offers a way to see a doctor without leaving home. Additionally, patients who live in rural areas often have to drive a great distance to see their doctor, but telemedicine brings their doctor to them, saving them both time and money in fuel costs. Moreover, our doctors are available at any time of the day or night for the same price.

Lower Costs

While the costs of our consultations may be similar to the copays of traditional appointments, telemedicine saves money in other ways. First, you don’t have to pay secondary costs for things like fuel and childcare. Second, studies have shown that people who use telemedicine services spend less time in the hospital, which means they avoid the more expensive services related to facility charges and more intensive treatments.

Reduced Chances of Spreading Contagious Conditions

When you go to the doctor in person, you’re sharing the same space with people who may be sick with a contagious condition, such as the flu or COVID-19. This can be particularly dangerous for patients who have suppressed immune systems or underlying conditions that can be exacerbated by these illnesses. The best way to avoid getting sick is to stay away from people who are already sick, and telemedicine makes that simple.
